ABOUT

Kinstretch takes the principles of clinical manual therapy and joint-tissue science and puts them in the hands of everyday movers

This class prepares your body for any activity by building strength in the joints that power your movements. It targets not only muscles, but also tendons, ligaments, fascia, and the neurology of each joint. Whether you’re 18 or 80, powerlifting or playing with grandkids, improving joint range and load capacity is key for health, performance, recovery, and longevity. Every human can use more articular freedom and control; less restriction, compensation, and pain. Kinstretch is the classroom, the lab, the workshop where we get that work done. We rotate, flex, contract, relax, cramp, laugh, commiserate, and learn together.

ORIGINS

Rooted in scientific evidence & years of research

Developed by Dr. Andreo Spina after years of research into human movement, Kinstretch is rooted in scientific evidence from experts in physical conditioning and medicine. It focuses on body control, injury prevention, joint health, and longevity. Kinstretch takes the principles of clinical manual therapy and joint-tissue science and puts them in the hands of everyday movers. The class is also used by professionals worldwide. Excelsior is Lancaster’s first licensed Kinstretch provider.

FOCUS

TYPICAL STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

JOINT-FOCUSED STRENGTH & CONDITIONING [KINSTRETCH]

Focuses on mid-range muscle tissue

Focuses on end-range tissue (tendon, ligament, and fascia) in addition to muscle

Prioritizes external load to build muscle mass

Prioritizes internal load to improve articular space, tissue architecture, load-bearing capacity, mechanical and neurological control, and muscle mass
Trains movement patterns (squats, bicep curls, dips, running, walking)
Trains movement parts used in patterns (shoulder flexion and extension, hip internal and external rotation, spine segmentation, etc.)

  • Kinstretch is a 60 minute cash drop-in class. There is no booking required. The cost is $20 per class (your first class is free). Bring a yoga mat. If you forget one, we have extras!

  • Since everyone has joints and a skeleton, and everyone must put forth effort throughout their lifetime to maintain those, Kinstretch organically brings together individuals from all backgrounds, generations, and walks of life. Ages 12 to 70+ attend including everyday movers, pro athletes, yoga instructors, grandparents, powerlifters, Jiu Jitsu players, students and more. A human skeleton is the only prerequisite.

    How people use Kinstretch:

    • CLINIC CLIENTS use Kinstretch to preserve their treatment results

    • ATHLETES use it to increase their performance and protect against injury

    • REHABILITATORS use it to regain capacity

    • RETIREES use it to support optimal function and mitigate deterioration

    • STUDENTS use it to learn functional anatomy and physical education

  • We dive right into a CARs warm up, then start working a particular joint or joint system, like hips or shoulders. We assess our own capacity in said joint, and then train for more of that capacity through a progressive series of inputs, beginning with capsular workspace, then connective tissue architecture, then load-bearing capacity and so on.

Kinstretch is known for being challenging in its own way— not because we’re slinging barbells and bounding box jumps— but because we set those patterns aside to train their prerequisites, such as isolating the femur in the hip socket, and applying functional science to create room to do more of the things a hip joint can do: flexion, rotation, abduction, extension.

Kinstretch scales elegantly to any skeleton. No matter age or ability level, this type of training exposes deficiencies and presents a straightforward solution. Every human can use more articular freedom and control; less restriction, compensation, and pain. Its there for the taking. Kinstretch is the classroom, the lab, the workshop where we get that work done. We rotate, flex, contract, relax, cramp, laugh, commiserate, and learn together.

  • Some clients opt to book a one-on-one coaching session prior to attending group Kinstretch. This gives them the chance to familiarize with the concepts we use in our larger classes.

Other clients opt for private Kinstretch classes scaled entirely to their training goals and needs.

For either of these options book a 60 min Functional Strength Coaching session.
