Thanks from Ellie

Hey gang, with a lot of help from her training partners, Ellie earned a womenโ€™s self-defense belt this week ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ˜Š

Statistics vary, but around 1 in 4 women face harassment, threat, or assault. After Ellie encountered such vulnerabilities in her past, she made a commitment to learn self-defense. But first, she wanted to get stronger, physically and mentally. And that's what brought her to Excelsior. Her own time here as a client helped her feel ready to take on self-defense education.

Informed by data from law enforcement, real women's experiences, and leverage principles borrowed from Jiu Jitsu, Ellie's Women Empowered training covers common threat scenarios. And teaches responses that reframe human value, risk assessment, verbal and psychological strategies, and force and distance management. She hopes to continue studying, including a youth program which uses similar principles to address many types of bullying.

In the future, we may host an educational event for self-defense. Would you like to be updated if developments arise? Let us know HERE.

Ellie says thanks to all who encouraged her. Sheโ€™d like to encourage YOU in whatever your own goals are. Find her in clinic, coaching, and classes.
